CITY TOUR + LUNCH + MUSEUMS OF LIMA Modern Lima We will begin our tour visiting the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores where we will see the Financial Center, the San Isidro Golf Course and the Olive Grove Park. We will also go by the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid shape temple that has survived the expansion of modern civilization. We will stop at Love Park and enjoy a nice view of the Pacific Ocean, as we drive down the Miraflores Malecon, a road along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Colonial Lima We will visit downtown Lima`s historical center, designated by Unesco as Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1991. In this journey we will enjoy what once was the center of the 16th century Spanish colony. We will see the Plaza Mayor, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop`s Palace, the City Hall and the Desamparados Train Station. We will also see Plaza San Martin, a large park surrounded by old colonial buildings still displaying beautiful carved wood balconies and other landmarks. San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs We enter one of the most important monasteries of the seventeenth century. Visit the old library, the chorus, the Main Cloister and the underground crypts known as the Catacombs. Museum of the Central Reserve Bank * We observe the “Treasures of Peru Collection”, a fine selection of gold objects, ceramics and textiles of various pre -Columbian cultures. Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology It is the oldest public museum in Peru.Its importance lies in the vast cultural heritage of its exhibits that include ceramics, textiles, metals, organic and stone artifacts. These objects were found with human remains in great state of conservation using techniques that still amaze the specialists. Larco Museum It is considered one of the best museums in Latin America. This museum features the best and most complete pre-Hispanic gold and silver collection in the world. It is well-known because of its erotic ceramics exhibits as well as its vast storage galleries. * Museum del Bank Central de Reserva, closed to the public Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Monday closed all day.
