CITY TOUR + LUNCH + PACHACAMAC Modern Lima We will begin our tour visiting the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores where we will see the Financial Center, the San Isidro Golf Course and the Olive Grove Park. We will also go by the HuacaPucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid shape temple that has survived the expansion of modern civilization. We will stop at Love Park and enjoy a nice view of the Pacific Ocean, as we drive down the MirafloresMalecon, a road along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Colonial Lima We will visit downtown Lima`s historical center, designated byUnesco as Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1991. In this journey we will enjoy what once was the center of the 16th century Spanish colony. We will see the Plaza Mayor, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop`s Palace, the City Hall and the DesamparadosTrain Station. We will also see Plaza San Martin, a large park surrounded by old colonial buildings still displaying beautiful carved wood balconies and other landmarks. San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs We enter one of the most important monasteries of the seventeenth century. Visit the old library, the chorus, the Main Cloister and the underground crypts known as the Catacombs. Museum of the Central Reserve Bank * We observe the “Treasures of Peru Collection”, a fine selection of gold objects, ceramics and textiles of various pre -Columbian cultures. Barranco + Chorrillos We continue our tour in Barranco, Lima’s most bohemian suburb and the prefered location to enjoy nightlife in Lima. We will see Barranco’sCentral Park, its Municipal Library, the traditional Bridge of Sighs, the colonial homes and its famous boulevard. Next, we will head over to Chorrillos, once the most exclusive summer resort in Lima. Nowadays, Chorrillos is the only suburb in Lima that boasts an ecological reserve called “Pantanosde Villa” which we will see on our way to Pachacamac. Pachacamac Just one hour south of Lima there is an archaeological complex that, even until now, conserves the mysticism and religiosity of their past, this is The Pachacamac Sanctuary, one of the largest religious centers on the Peruvian Coast. According to archaeologists Pachacamac was the most important pilgrimage centre in ancient Peru, and at its glorious days the place received hundreds of people from all over Peru. It contains various pyramids, temples and large plazas, where visitors can enjoy a pleasant walking while exploring the site. The sanctuary also offers magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean as well as of the Lurin Valley. In addition, the tour includes a visit to the Museum located inside the archaeological complex, which displays the idol of the God Pachacamac and ancient remains found at the zone. * Museum del Bank Central de Reserva, closed to the public Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
